RVDS Vertical Drilling System

The RVDS is specialized on the automated drilling of vertical boreholes ( 8 ½" – 26" diameter). It consists of two modules, each 1.5 m in length. Therefore, it is compatible with every standard Raise Bore unit. The system is integrated in the borehole assembly between drill bit and first stabilizer. During operation a turbine provides the system with self-sustaining energy. Integrated inclinometers constantly measure the deviation of the vertical borehole axis. Corrections will automatically be performed by four hydraulically extendable steering ribs.

Simultaneously, current drilling data is send by the RVDS to the surface equipment via mud pulse technology. For highly explosive areas, the surface equipment is also available in an ATEX certified version.
